About the project
In 2014 Koketso Growth was commissioned by the Parliament of South Africa to design, produce and install a 1,8m bust of the late former President Nelson Mandela in the Parliament precinct, Cape Town. The project formed part of South Africa’s formal 20 Years of Democracy celebrations, and the bust was unveiled by President Jacob Zuma to a host of dignitaries and the public on 29 April 2014.
The bust stands as a fitting tribute to Nelson Mandela in front of the parliament where the great statesman battled and forged South Africa’s uniquely challenging path to democracy.
